Some Scouting Links
- Our favorite internet scouting resource is the MacScouter Page. This page has links to just about everything scouting related, including computer resources, troop and committee resources, skits, songs, games, cooking, and lots of other useful stuff.
- Another great starting point for web-surfing scouts is the U.S. Scouting Service Project. There is a tremendous amount of material linked there, it will keep you busy for hours.
- Read @Scouter , the online edition of Scouter Magazine.
- MeritBadge.com -- An online reference for merit badge requirement and rank advancement assistance
- Here's a nice collection of Adult Leader Resources
- If you spend a lot of time outdoors you should check out Lightning facts, myths, and trivia
- The NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation pages include information on campgrounds, fishing, hunting, education, conservation, and pollution issues within NYS.
- Outside Magazine Online is a good read. Their database is searchable so you can find reviews of outdoor gear before your next troop purchase.
- Doug Armknecht maintains a neat online topographic map resource, TopoWeb.
- New York State current surface water conditions are monitored by the USGS.
- Need camping gear? While we recommend buying locally when possible, if you can't find it there you'll probably find it at Campmor
Philmont Links
- Straight from the source: Philmont Scout Ranch
- Never hurts to read the local press. In this case it's the Sangre de Christo Chronicle
Useful Government and Political Links
- The United States Senate and NYS senators Hillary Clinton and Charles E. Schumer.
- The U.S. House of Representatives and central NY representative James Walsh.
- Visit the Executive Branch.
- And of course there's the Judicial Branch.
- The New York State Home Page will link you to all the governmental offices within NYS.
- Check out the City of Syracuse on the web.
- And of course Onondaga County.
- Visit the The Flag-Burning Page to learn more about proposed flag-desecration amendments and what is wrong with them.
There will be more links added to this page eventually, but that'll get you started. If you have a scouting resource on the Web that you think we should know about, please email the information. Thanks!
